Champions Online is great for mmorpg players who like options. The statistic system is quite good. It takes a bit getting used to if you've come from other MMORPGs, such as "City of Heroes". The statistics all have practical uses, so there are none that are not useful in some way, but some powers scale up with certain statistics, such as Constitution or Strength. If you build a character off of Dexterity or Ego, obviously those powers won't work well, so keep that in mind when you're building a character. Once you figure out exactly what stats do what, you'll be able to make an effective build off of any of the heroic sets in no time.The missions are interesting and challenging, and while some of them feel a touch repetitive, well that's nothing compared how "City of Heroes" felt. Champions is certainly not a grindfest. Your levels are almost guaranteed for you as long as you participate in group events, and search diligently for all the available missions. Character roles make sure that your hero won't be locked into just one role. In "City of Heroes" you either created a Defender, or a Scrapper, or a Tank... etc. Well in this game, almost any character can be at least a little bit of each role. If you set your character to aggressive, you will do extra damage, and take extra damage. If you set it to defensive, you will take less damage, and of course give less damage. If you select balanced you can effectively play a Scrapper/Tank character. There is also a support role that amplifies heals and buffs.The areas can become a bit repetitive, but they are very expansive. For instance, in Canada, you'll be surprised to be flying along, minding your own business, and all of a sudden you break into an area that looks like it belongs on an alien planet, which turns out to be a section that has been terraformed by invading alien forces. You might also notice the dinosaurs in Canada. In the desert there's a western style ghost town, literally filled with ghosts and phantasms. There is also a super prison that has become overrun by it's inmates, and a wild west theme park full of cowboy robots to bust up. In Millennium City, the main city zone, you face four warring gangs, escaped inmates from the local prison, and many more surprising sorts of villains.I have not played much into other zones yet, but there is an undersea zone, called Lemuria. There is also a Monster Island. Think Dr. Moreau, though it does have a bit of Japanese monster mixed in in places. The PVP isn't the most balanced thing yet, but they're working on that. Let's hope they don't break the actual game just to balance PVP.In summation, Champions is a great game if you want to put some thought into your playing style. If you like action games, superheroes, and rpgs, this game is for you. The battle system is very good, and it keeps you moving without having to wait forever for your stamina to recover like certain other games. The music is very good, and the Character Designer is very expansive. It's not yet quite as expansive as City of Heroes, but it's also less limited in what you can change both colorwise and design wise. In time, Champions Online will have one of the best character designers bar-none. Currently they don't allow you to see the weapons you select in advance, so that's a somewhat annoying problem, but I am certain that they will be fixing it soon.If you decide to play Champions Online, please don't be rude or selfish, if you team with others, you can share most missions that other people will have to wait for a respawn for. All ignoring team requests in this game does is make you look like a complete [...].And that's all for my review! Have fun!
