Ultimate Quake collects three versions of the all-time classic gorefest. Your adrenal gland may not survive the ordeal. Your chances aren't much better.
In the original Quake, you'll use futuristic weapons against horrible creatures. Face the cannibalistic Ogre, fiendish Vore and indestructible Schambler using lethal nails and rocket and even grenade launchers. 32 savage single-player levels and 6 Deathmatch levels, through a LAN or Internet connection.
In Quake II you learn that hundreds of your men have been reduced to just a few. Take down the enemy's war machine before humanity is lost. Explore large mission-based levels riddled with monsters. Experience impressive enemy AI and in-your-face sounds and graphics. Take on more than 32 players in Deathmatch over LAN or Internet.
Quake III - Arena takes you to a place where high-ranking warriors are transformed into spindeless mush. Lunge onto a stage of harrowing landscapes and veiled abysses. Unleash 9 weapons, from plasma guns to rocket launchers. Choose from 40 characters, including the motherlode, Lucy. Enter the frenzy of single-player or multi-player mosh pits.
The Quake series is well and truly one of the most enjoyable set of games ever created, and this package bundles all of them into one small box.First, we get Quake, the first truly 3D first person shooter game, that will totally overload your sensory input with intense graphics, nightmare-inducing monsters, and, most of all amazing multiplayer! The game allows up to 16 players over a network and the game has options for both deathmatch and cooperative (a feature that is sorely missed in modern titles). So once you've experienced the single player game, you can bring new life to the campaign by going through it with your buddies. All in all, Quake is an amazing game that will bring you hours of fun.Next, we've got Quake 2. In terms of graphics it's a huge step up from the original Quake, allowing for 3D acceleration on all major video cards (GLQuake only works on 3dfx cards). The single player campaign is just as good as Quake's, if not better. Quake 2, like its predecessor, allows for both deathmatch and cooperative play, and with regard to multiplayer Quake 2 manages to best even Quake, with even more vivid worlds, better map design, and more satisfying weapons. Quake 2 is a worthy successor to Quake, and the fact that it's included in this set means that once you've spent countless hours (or shall we measure in days?) on the original Quake, you and your LAN party buddies (if you don't already have a weekly Quake LAN party, then you don't know what you're missing) can experience a whole new dimension: Quake 2.Finally, this package comes with the last Quake created by Id software (Quake 4 is by Raven): Quake 3 Arena. This title is an interesting departure from the original Quake format. Quake 3's single player is simply a deathmatch session against enemy AI (very GOOD AI that's worth practicing with), so its focus is, naturally, multiplayer. In this, it succeeds brilliantly. Very fast network code, stunning visuals, very vivid new environments (Quake 1 and 2 used software renderers with 8/16 bit color depth -- Quake 3 uses 32bit!) with much more color, and a host of amazing maps and a lot of game modes (CTF, anybody?). So when you've had your fun with Quake and Quake 2's co-op and deathmatch, you can experience a Quake game designed exclusively for multiplayer support: And it ROCKS!So just buy this set, it'll bring you countless hours of single player, and countless ^ 2 hours of multiplayer!this is one of those games that if you are not used to ID games you are going to have a hard time playing but you will have alot of funi have been playing ID games for years from Wallenstein 3D to Doom 3this was an amazing set of games it was well worth it the quality of it was a little better than they described which is great and the shiping was very fast i got it within 3 day of when i ordered itso if you just have some extra money and you want to spend it on something to play for a couple of day to a week buy thisit's a very great buyi strongly recommend itbut if you buy it you might want to also get quake 4 because it is the sequel to quake 2This is a very good purchase of the original Quake trilogy. For all of you die-hard fans of old PC shooters, this is amust-have for your collection. This package includesQuake 1, Quake 2, & Quake III: Arena. As you may know,Quake 1 which was released in 1996 is no longer compatiblew/ today's XP computers since it was meant for MS DOSWindows 95, & 98. However, this re-release ofthe game includes updated software called Quake Windows thatruns on Windows 2000 or Windows XP. So, unless you havean old computer over a decade old, DO NOT purchase the original1996 CD-ROM retail disc (IT WILL NOT RUN ON XPs). Also included with Quake 1is Quake II which was a groundbreaking hit for 3-D shooters, &Quake III: Arena a multiplayer vs. game. This product does notinclude Quake 1 & Quake II expansion packs.I bought Quake back in the Win 95/98 days. When I found this for Win XP I had to get it. I only wish I could find the two expansion packs that were released for the Win 95/98 version. Expansion packs were actually more fun. I do have the old ones for Win95/98. I play every so often and the time goes by too fast.Product was as described; fast shipping from the seller.I would say one of the best first person shooters I have played. This game is just plain fun, guns are cool along with all maps.Just wish I had more time to play. Only issue I have ever had was, our PC is just way to antiquated.Really a must. Every shooter should own a copy.Quake is one of the masterpieces of idSoftware, and still today is very playable, even in modern systems.
