I am no stranger to the Fallout series and was looking forward to this title. I decided to not read anything about it until I got it. Having enjoyed Fallout 3 immensely, I found Fallout: New Vegas disappointing so was hoping this could live up to the hype.I installed the game without issue (about 10 GB from the disc and another 15GB through Steam). I started the game, created my character then I closed the game and waited 2 weeks. I did this because I wanted to wait until they sorted the bugs, which plague Fallout/Elder Scrolls games.I have now played over 100 hours of Fallout 4 and have to say I am both impressed and a little disappointed. Bethesda (the developers of Fallout) have done a great job improving the Fallout engine and interface so it's more streamlined and user friendly - It's so much easier to search/loot containers. The shooting outside of VATS has improved massively where it's very possible to face combat scenarios without using VATS. With the improving of the gun play is the increase in the amount of guns and mods available to the player. Not just mods for guns but armour too. Power Armour in the game has been totally redone that feels more in keeping with the Fallout series. The graphics look nice not cutting edge but a real step up from Fallout 3. Lighting in the game is much improved with more realistic lighting effects and HDR. The levelling up perk system has been changed too making it easier to spec out your character how you want, giving the player more freedom to deal with NPCs.While I have enjoyed Fallout 4 there are some issues and those are mainly the bugs. As I waited a couple of weeks after release I was able to take advantage of the patches released for the game but that didn't mean my game was bug free. Bug issues aside I was disappointed with the story. The main story line gets easily forgotten for side quest and random events. Also the aspect of building a town or community in Fallout never enticed me as I like playing a lone wanderer in the wasteland. The quest lines didn't interest me that much either. The factions just seemed an allegory of the class system and slavery, which I feel they could of done more with. With a Fallout game comes the mods. There are too many to list but they have improved my enjoyment of the game a lot. With improvements to interface and graphics. As well as fixing some annoyances with the game like not being able to see what your character will say!I have put in over 100 hours in Fallout 4 and gripes aside it's a great game that you can lose hours in. I would definitely recommend checking out mods for the game as they are supported on PC. I look forward to the DLC packs to see if they add something more in terms of story. If you own a PC this is definitely worth the price.
